Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Section 1:
Getting Started
How do I sign up?
Click the orange "Apply Now" button at the bottom of this page. You are welcome to a free consultation first, though, where we will learn about your child’s needs, explain our program, and match you with the right tutor.
What happens during the free consultation?
We discuss your child’s strengths, challenges, and goals. We also explain our BRIGHT Method™ and answer any questions you might have. It’s completely free, no commitment.
Who is EverBright Scholars for?
EverBright Scholars supports K–12 students across Cincinnati — from catching up to staying on track to pushing ahead. Our diverse team of expert tutors covers core subjects and goes beyond homework help, building the skills schools often overlook. We also provide targeted support for SAT, ACT, and AP exams, college essays, and even guidance in exploring majors. Whatever your child’s goals, our tutors adapt to meet them — helping every student grow with confidence and independence at each stage of their learning journey.
Section 2:
Tutors & Reliability
Who are the tutors?
Our tutors are graduate students, high-performing undergraduates, and professionals, rigorously vetted and trained in the BRIGHT Method™. They’re not just subject experts; they’re mentors.
Do you run background checks?
Yes. Every tutor passes a comprehensive screening process including background checks before working with students.
What training do tutors receive?
We only source tutors who are subject-matter experts and the interview process ensures this to be the case. Tutors are then trained in practical application of modern educational philosophy through our flagship BRIGHT Method™.
How are tutors and students matched?
We personally match each student with a tutor whose background, teaching style, and subject expertise align with the student’s goals and learning profile. Our matching process considers both academic needs and personality fit to ensure a productive partnership. If you feel the fit is not working, for any reason, we will provide replacements until we find the right match.
Section 3:
Sessions & Learning
What does a typical tutoring session look like?
Sessions are one-on-one, usually at your home. Tutors review recent work, address "breakpoints” where your student is getting stuck, and build skills using our evidence-based BRIGHT Method™.
Do you assign homework?
Not in the traditional sense. If extra practice will reinforce learning, tutors may suggest short, targeted exercises. But we focus on making your child’s existing schoolwork more effective.
How is progress measured?
We measure progress through our 90-Day Growth Cycle™:
-
At onboarding, we conduct a detailed academic and behavioral diagnostic to establish your student’s starting point — including subject mastery, study habits, and learning mindset.
-
After each session, your tutor records notes on what was covered, challenges addressed, and how your student responded. These notes help us track growth in real time and adjust strategies as needed.
-
Every 90 days, we repeat the diagnostic and meet with you one-on-one to review progress, compare data, and set new goals. This structured approach ensures every student is always moving forward — academically, emotionally, and strategically.
Section 4:
Scheduling & Logistics
Where does tutoring take place?
Most sessions happen in your home. If preferred, we can meet at a library or other safe, quiet space.
How long are sessions?
Tutoring sessions are typically 60 minutes, which we’ve found to be the sweet spot for focus and progress. For older students or families with specific scheduling needs, we also offer 90-minute sessions upon request.
How often should my child meet with a tutor?
Once a week provides steady support. Two or three times per week creates faster progress, especially for catching up. Discounts apply for higher frequency.
Can we reschedule or cancel?
Yes. We ask for 24 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation fee.
Section 5:
Pricing & Payment
How much does tutoring cost?
Sessions are $70/hour. Families receive discounts for multiple sessions per week (e.g. 3x/week = 10% off).
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. If at any point you lose confidence in us, let us know. We’ll work to make it right. If we cannot, we refund the unused balance.
Is there a contract or minimum commitment?
No long-term contracts. Many families choose to commit for a semester, but you can start with a single month. We bill monthly in advance.
Do you offer any sibling discounts?
Yes. When siblings work with the same tutor in back-to-back sessions, we’re happy to bill those lessons together at the discounted group rate.
I believe in your methods, but price is too high.
Schedule a free consultation. We work hard to serve our students and the community. There may be options available.
Section 6:
Results & Philosophy
How soon will I see results?
Many families notice increased confidence and attitude within a few weeks. Academic results (like higher test scores) often follow after consistent practice over 1–2 months. After 3 months, we will perform a diagnostic to confirm educational gains and update your student's educational goals.
What subjects do you cover?
All K-12 subjects, with strong demand in math, science, and writing. We also help with study skills, organization, and test prep.
What makes EverBright different from other tutoring services?
We combine rigorous research (the BRIGHT Method™), highly trained mentors, and personalized attention. We’re not just homework helpers — we teach students how to learn.
What if my student is not progressing as expected?
Our progress tracking is designed to pinpoint exactly where your student needs support. Every session generates data and insights that help us see what’s working and what isn’t. If your student isn’t progressing as expected, we analyze their learning patterns, adjust our approach, and communicate a clear plan to you. Our methods are based on modern educational theory and decades of research—and we’re committed to finding what helps your student thrive.
Section 7:
Practical Concerns
Do you work with students who have ADHD, dyslexia, or other learning differences?
Yes, our techniques are compatible with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Our BRIGHT Method™ naturally adapts to individual needs, and our tutors are trained to emphasize scaffolding, confidence, and adaptability. For moderate to high cases, or students who are not responding well to our program, we are more than happy to refer you to more advanced specialists.
Do you offer online tutoring?
Currently our focus is in-person, but we can provide online sessions in some cases if it better serves the student.
What if my child and the tutor don’t connect?
Rapport matters. If the match doesn’t feel right, we’ll pair your child with another tutor — no problem.
